an elegant weapon for a more civilized age
w/ assists from f. agnone & pio
"You know, I think everybody longs to be loved,
and longs to know that he or she is lovable.
And, consequently, the greatest thing that we can do
is to help somebody know that they're loved and capable of loving."

the hanged man + cassette tape liner notes

also, here's the liner notes fer my cassette only release
He Did It The Hard Way, which will most likely be released before the year is up.
As prophesied nine years ago, i am eulogised by the great Alex Fedorov:
What can be said about Toby Goodshank that isn't already printed in the tabloids at every supermarket and gas station in America? He liked the drugs.
In his final days, Toby had taken residence in a burned building in East Harlem where he would spend as many as ten straight hours per day rolling pigeons from a coop on the building's rooftop. Communicating with each of the flock members instinctively, he became skilled at a language known only by the most savvy bird enthusiasts. Their flight patterns mesmerized him and he saw a holiness and simplicity in it that was completely absent elsewhere in life.
The last time I saw him, there was a certain abandon in the way he carried himself - as if he knew the end was closing in. We stayed up late talking about how one day we'd travel to Portugal and see a bloodless bullfight, but I could tell I'd be buying a ticket for one. He died in Autumn, which was always his favorite season. Something about the end of Summer brought a very sobering and immediate rush to his senses and it was when he produced his best work. Long breakfasts at the cafes, listening to Mingus, he could be found staring lasciviously at the female patrons as if to challenge them to respond. None had ever dared.
In the end, we're left with a spellbinding collection of memories and set of recordings and artwork that the world will have no choice but to cherish. His honesty is what has solidified his status as "American hero" but his love was universal.
